Reopening Library services at City of Mississauga

The City’s many libraries are seen as the cornerstone in the community.

Serving various demographics with the newest knowledge, historical events, colorful stories and everything in between, libraries are a place for all.

By using FrontDesk for reserving contactless curbside pickups, they were able to continue serving their community.

Spread knowledge and story time, not COVID

The City’s many libraries are seen as the cornerstone in the community. Serving various demographics with the newest knowledge, historical events, colorful stories and everything in between, libraries are a place for all. By using FrontDesk for reserving contactless curbside pickups, they were able to continue serving their community.

During COVID19, curbside delivery became the new norm. In a matter of 15 days, Mississauga Libraries went from planning to go-live with reserving a spot for curbside pickups, helping over 35,000 people during the first month of use with pickup of books, tapes, DVDs etc. Once the requested items were available via the Library’s website, the process was simple, navigate to the reservation site, answer some basic questions, pick an available time slot, submit the reservation request and then safely pick up the items form curbside on the day of the appointment.

Mississauga Mayor Crombie doing Curbside Pickup at Mississauga Library

“Using appointments mean we can safely continue services such as the library curbside pickup. In one month, 35,000 people made appointments and picked up books, tapes and DVDs at our libraries. They did it knowing that when they arrived, they were served and did not have to wait in a lineup and it was going to be safe.”

More than just appointments

At a later date, study space reservations were added to the system as well, allowing visitors to make a booking online for a study desk/room in advance, ensuring limited capacity and safe use. With daily reports and statistics on use, the Library teams can optimize based on data.

Most important, gone are the days of long line-ups and reaching capacity.

With FrontDesk, business areas know well in advance how busy their day will be and can staff resources accordingly.
